How Orbion Connect Uses Cookies and Similar Technologies

Last updated: 24 June 2026

This Cookie Notice explains how Orbion Connect uses cookies and similar technologies on its website and platform. We are based in the United Kingdom and use cookies in line with UK legal requirements, including the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and the UK GDPR.

At a glance

  • Orbion Connect uses secure cookies to support signed-in sessions and platform security.
  • Our frontend is configured to send HTTP-only authentication cookies with secure requests.
  • Non-essential cookies should not be set before consent where UK law requires consent.
  • You can manage or remove cookies through your browser settings.

What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies can also store or access information on a device for related purposes.

Cookies We Use

  • Strictly necessary cookies that support security, authentication, fraud prevention, and essential platform functionality.
  • Session-related cookies used to recognise authenticated users and keep them signed in while they use protected platform areas.
  • Preference or functional cookies where needed to remember interface or service settings.

HTTP-only Authentication Cookies

Based on the current application setup, Orbion Connect uses an authentication cookie named "token" for signed-in platform access. The frontend is configured with credentialed requests so that the browser can automatically send this cookie with relevant same-site requests.

Because this cookie is HTTP-only, it is designed to be inaccessible to client-side JavaScript, which helps reduce exposure to certain browser-based attacks. This type of cookie is used for security and session management rather than advertising.

Consent and Non-Essential Cookies

Under UK rules, cookies that are not strictly necessary for the service requested by the user generally require consent before they are set.

At present, this notice is drafted on the basis that Orbion Connect's visible web application primarily relies on necessary session and security cookies. If analytics, advertising, personalisation, or other non-essential cookies are introduced, Orbion Connect should deploy a consent mechanism before those technologies are activated.

Managing Cookies

  • You can usually control and delete cookies through your browser settings.
  • Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect login, security, and other essential parts of the platform.
  • If we introduce non-essential cookies, we should also provide clear controls to accept or reject them.

Third-Party Cookies

If third-party tools, embedded content, or social media integrations are used on the website, those providers may set their own cookies subject to their own notices and controls. Orbion Connect should review those services regularly and update this notice where relevant.
